- Is almost always male
- Usually a random schmo, thus he has no real substantial qualities
- He is an everyday type of guy, nothing really special about him
- This means no academic qualities, generally decent to horrible at sports, and is really oblivious
- Love blooms in the most unlikely of places for said character archetype
- Seems to have no interest in the opposite sex
- Oblivious to the fact that he / she is actually loved by many characters within story
- Usually, is really in love with only one girl
- Can sometimes be a real ass of a character (see top character image)- Usually gets beaten on constantly by the main heroine, along with any other who wishes to join
- Are very timid and can not speak their mind
- Usually ends up having to make a hard choice between two main heroines
- BETTER DAMN WELL PICK THE CHILDHOOD FRIEND

Very true, though this appears to be often case since certain audiences like someone to relate to. Better this than some cocky motherfucker who sleeps with everyone.
